Jenny's Place
Jenny’s Place provides direct relief and support to women and children who are experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness (or are at risk of homelessness). Jenny’s Place offers a range of services to women and children. We operate Women and Children’s Crisis Refuge, Single Women’s Crisis Refuge, Supported Transitional Accommodation, Outreach Homelessness Support Program, and the Domestic Violence Resource Centre.
Nova for Women and Children
Nova supports women, (with or without children) in Newcastle Western Suburbs and Lake Macquarie areas, who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or escaping domestic or family violence. We can assist with Crisis Accommodation, Case Management, Advocacy, Referrals to other supports and more. Nova has two Drop in Hubs located at Newcastle West and Charlestown where people needing support can come without an appointment.
Warlga Ngurra Women & Children's Refuge
Warlga Ngurra is a Specialist Homelessness Service that responds to the homeless or at risk of being homeless. We are a Women’s and children’s refuge offering emergency accommodation and support for women who are homeless due to domestic violence. We also offer court support, children’s activities, outreach support, advocacy, housing support, child support and referrals.
Newcastle Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (NWDVCAS)
NWDVCAS provides support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, and as they navigate the legal system. We provide information, advocacy, and referrals to relevant services and resources as well as safety planning and resources.
Relationships Australia - Hunter
We offer a range of counselling and groupwork services, as well as a Children’s Contact Service, and specialist Family and Domestic Violence services. We have a dedicated Men's Behaviour Change team that offers both case work and group work for Men who use violence and also victim/survivors of domestic and family violence.
YWCA Hunter
YWCA Hunter is a women-led organisation that achieves positive change by providing advocacy, programs and services to support, empower and connect women and families for a stronger community.
Newcastle Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS)
Child Protection Counselling Services (CPCS) accept referrals for children/young people and their families/carers where there has been violence, abuse and/or neglect, and where there is a perceived need for a trauma-specific service to contribute to their safety, welfare and wellbeing.
Hunter New England Healthcare Interpreter Service
Health Care Interpreter Service provides interpreters by telephone, video and on site for health professional within Hunter New England Local Health Districts, and other districts and providers by agreement.
ACON Hunter
LGBTQ+ Health and Wellbeing. We're here for Counselling, Care Coordination, Peer Support, NSP outreach, HIV prevention, HIV support and LGBTQ health, in the Hunter, New England, Central Coast, Western NSW regions.
Family Support Newcastle
We offer a number of support services to children and their families. We can support families who may be in the following situations; Women leaving violence (SHLV project); Parents who have DCJ involved with their family (IFP project); Parents experiencing difficulties (Family Support Project); Supported playtime activities to assist your child’s socialisation (Playgroup); Father's and other men who have a fathering role (Men's Project) and Separated Dads (Men's Project). All these services cover different locations some are only Newcastle LGA and others cover more areas.
Child Abuse Prevention Service (CAPS)
CAPS is a charity which provides frontline community education programs aimed at preventing child abuse and FDV. This includes personal safety programs, women's groups, and support for organisations to embed child safe practices.
Community Disability Alliance Hunter (CDAH)
CDAH is a peer-led disability organisation. CDAH provides training for people with disability by people with disability. CDAH has peer groups for people with disability including Women First.
STARTTS (NSW Service for the treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors)
STARTTS is a specialist, not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1988. It provides culturally relevant psychological treatment and support, and community interventions, to help people and communities heal the scars of torture and refugee trauma and rebuild their lives in Australia. STARTTS also fosters a positive recovery environment through the provision of training to services, advocacy and policy work.

People With Disabilities Australia (PWDA) Newcastle
Helping people with disability access the National Redress Scheme. Supporting people with a disability who have experienced child sexual abuse 0-17yo under the care of an organisation/institution access apologies and/or compensation. All areas; self-referral available, identified Aboriginal staff member.

The Multicultural Health Service supports clinicians to provide equitable and accessible public health care to culturally and linguistically diverse patients and Deaf People.
Got Your Back Sista
Got Your Back Sista supports women to rebuild their lives after having fled domestic violence. We provide information and advice, caseworker support, furniture and household items, workshops to build confidence and self-esteem, vocational programs, relationship education programs, self-defence classes, a support group, food and personal care items.
University of Newcastle Legal Centre
UNLC provides a free legal advice service for all community members but does also run a specialty clinic for older persons called the Older Persons Legal Clinic (people aged 60 years and older, or indigenous people aged 50 years and older).
Newcastle Sexual Assault Service
We support all people who’ve experienced sexual assault or sexual abuse, and their non-offending significant persons. Accessible service with LGBTIQA+ inlusive strategies, interpreters available, and dedicated Aboriginal workers.
